Ashton has experience working with:
- Children in the early years of life (0-9 years).
- Children with a diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and Down's Syndrome.
- Children and families, to promote engagement and independence in self-care occupations (i.e., toileting).
- Children and educators, to promote engagement and sense of belonging within school settings.
Ashton is our Senior Occupational Therapist at Nurturing Nature. Ashton studied a double degree at Flinders University in Adelaide, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Occupational Therapy in 2017. Ashton has 7 years of experience working with children, where she worked as a support worker and allied health assistant, before beginning her career as an occupational therapist in 2018.
Throughout her career as an Occupational Therapist, Ashton has worked within private practice and catholic schooling system. She has adopted roles providing 1:1 therapy, group therapy, clinical mentoring, and educator/allied health consultation. During this time, Ashton has continued to build on her clinical skills, through participation in various professional development trainings and workshops.
Ashton approaches therapy with a family centred focus, where she maintains professionalism and engages with children in a bubbly and playful manner. She is currently offering mobile therapy services to clients located in the Southern and Metropolitan areas of Adelaide.
